NEXT-LIFE

Official gameplay guide

From your first income to a lasting legacy

NEXT-LIFE is a browser-based life and business simulation built around trade-offs. Choose how to earn, when to study, which risks to take and when one successful life should strengthen the next.

NEXT-LIFE

The core loop in four decisions

A strong run is not built by clicking the most expensive option. It comes from keeping enough cash to survive while steadily widening the choices available to your character.

  1. 01

    Read your position

Check cash, health, happiness and daily flow before committing to a purchase or a course.

  2. 02

    Secure an income

Use an accessible career first, then decide whether education or a small business is the better next step.

  3. 03

    Reinvest with a buffer

Grow income and net worth without spending the reserve that protects you from bad events.

  4. 04

    Convert progress

Retire when the permanent legacy benefit is worth more than continuing the current life.

01 · Starting well

Treat the first days as a cash-flow problem

Every new life begins with limited resources. Your immediate objective is not luxury or a spectacular investment; it is a positive and dependable daily flow. Open the career screen, compare the jobs you can already take and watch how salary changes the Flow / Day value in the interface. That number is the clearest summary of whether time currently helps or hurts you.

Keep part of your starting cash untouched. Random events and health problems can impose costs before your plan is profitable. A reserve gives you time to react instead of selling an asset or accepting a loan under pressure. Once income covers ordinary costs and leaves a surplus, you can start buying access to stronger systems.

  • Pause time while comparing decisions; running the clock is itself a choice.
  • Judge recurring income and recurring costs together, not as separate numbers.
  • Use the home overview after every major purchase to confirm that daily flow stayed healthy.

02 · Education and careers

Spend time learning when it opens a better income tier

Careers provide active daily salary. The easiest jobs stabilize a new character, while better-paid roles require qualifications or stronger attributes. Studies cost time and money now in exchange for access later. Before enrolling, inspect the careers the qualification unlocks and compare their salary gain with the course cost and the income you give up while studying.

A qualification is most useful when it changes your available choices. Collecting courses without a plan can leave a well-educated character with no liquidity. A practical sequence is to work, build a buffer, complete one targeted course and then move directly into the job that justifies it. Careers also support empire progression, so a strong profession remains valuable even after businesses begin producing income.

  • Choose a target career before choosing the study that unlocks it.
  • Include lost salary when estimating the real cost of education.
  • Revisit the career list after a qualification or attribute change; new paths may have opened.

03 · Building an empire

Scale through businesses instead of skipping the ladder

Businesses add passive income, but cash alone does not grant access to every company. Larger acquisitions are restricted by your Empire tier and net worth. This keeps progression tied to a credible operating base: own manageable ventures, maintain a useful career and grow total wealth before attempting the largest deals. Each business card shows the tier and net-worth requirements you still need.

Compare purchase price with net daily contribution rather than chasing the biggest headline income. A business with heavy costs can weaken your flow, while several smaller operations may fund the next tier more safely. Some ventures also include management decisions or focused subgames. Those choices can improve results, but they require attention that a purely passive portfolio does not.

  • Check the net contribution after costs, not gross revenue alone.
  • Keep enough liquidity for both personal setbacks and business decisions.
  • Use smaller acquisitions to raise net worth and unlock the next Empire tier deliberately.

04 · Savings, markets and assets

Give every part of your wealth a different job

Cash protects the run, savings preserve money for later decisions, stocks expose capital to market movement and dividends, and assets such as property contribute to net worth in their own way. These systems are alternatives, not a checklist that must be completed immediately. The useful question is what your portfolio currently lacks: liquidity, recurring income or long-term value.

Market prices can move against you, so do not invest money needed for near-term bills. Dividends can complement salary and business income, but they do not remove price risk. Diversification makes the simulation more resilient because one poor outcome does not control the whole life. Review positions periodically instead of reacting to every movement on the screen.

  • Separate an emergency reserve from capital intended for growth.
  • Compare an investment with the best alternative available at the same price.
  • Track how each holding affects both net worth and daily flow.

05 · Time and risk

Speed is useful only when the run can absorb surprise

NEXT-LIFE advances through time. Salaries and passive income accumulate, but costs, illnesses and random events also arrive. Faster time does not improve a weak plan; it merely reveals its consequences sooner. Pause when a decision appears, read the full effect and confirm your reserve before accelerating again. Health and happiness are resources, not decorative meters.

Loans can solve a short liquidity crisis, but repayment becomes another recurring obligation. Use debt to bridge a recoverable gap, not to hide permanently negative flow. The same principle applies to any risky action: consider the loss you can tolerate before considering the reward. A slower, solvent run usually reaches more options than a fast run that depends on every outcome going well.

  • Pause for events, purchases and any change to recurring costs.
  • Treat health problems as both a financial and a time-management risk.
  • After taking a loan, identify the exact income that will repay it.

06 · Retirement and legacy

Know when to trade one successful life for stronger future lives

Legacy is NEXT-LIFE's long-term progression system. Retiring ends the current run and starts a fresh life, but legacy points and permanent bonuses carry forward. The reset is therefore not a failure. It converts what you achieved into leverage that can change the opening and midgame of every later character.

Do not retire only because progress has slowed for a day. First ask whether the current life still has an attainable milestone that would materially improve the legacy reward. Then compare that gain with the time required. Early retirements can build momentum; later retirements can produce larger rewards. The best moment depends on what permanent upgrade you are pursuing next.

  • Review the projected legacy reward before confirming retirement.
  • Choose permanent bonuses that support the strategy you want to try next.
  • Use each new life to test a different route instead of repeating every decision automatically.

Useful details

Questions players ask before starting

Is NEXT-LIFE pay-to-win?

No. Gold and supporter options are optional and save time; the game's progression can be earned through play. The core simulation is free in the browser.

Where is my progress stored?

The game automatically saves in the browser. Signing in lets you back up supported progress and purchases to your account, which is useful when changing devices or clearing browser data.

Can I recover from a bad decision?

Often, yes. Pause time, reduce avoidable commitments and rebuild positive daily flow. Loans may bridge a temporary gap, but permanent negative flow needs a change of career, assets or costs.

What is the objective?

There is no single required ending. You can pursue a career, an investment portfolio, a business empire or repeated legacy runs. Progress is measured by the range and resilience of the life you build.

Does the simulation provide financial advice?

No. Prices, returns, careers and events are fictional game systems designed for entertainment. They should not be used to make real financial, career or health decisions.

Your first life does not need to be perfect

Start with a stable income, preserve a buffer and let each unlocked system answer a problem you actually have. NEO will be waiting when you are ready to choose a route.
